How to Make a Birthday Video Online for Free (No Watermark)

Text Fireworks Blog · Updated July 2026

Most "free" birthday video makers have a catch: a watermark in the corner, a sign-up wall before download, or a three-video monthly limit. This guide uses a genuinely free approach — a text firework generator that runs entirely in your browser — and takes about five minutes from idea to a video you can post anywhere.

What you'll need

Step 1 — Write a short wish

Open the tool and type your message. The golden rule: short lines. "Happy Birthday" on the first line, the name on the second. Each letter becomes its own firework, so 25 characters make a tight 10-second show while 100 characters make a half-minute epic. The counter under the box shows the estimated video length as you type.

Step 2 — Pick the frame for where you'll post

Choose 9:16 for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, or WhatsApp; 16:9 for YouTube or Facebook; 1:1 for an Instagram grid post. Full HD 1080p is the best quality; 720p makes a smaller file for slow connections. (More detail in our video size guide.)

Step 3 — Choose a style

The marquee light-bulb style — glowing neon outlines filled with blinking white bulbs — is the crowd favourite, matching the light-up letters you see at parties. The rainbow palette gives every letter its own colour; gold reads elegant; candy pastel suits kids. Try a few: previewing is instant and free.

Step 4 — Preview and download

Press preview and watch each letter rocket up and explode into place. Happy? Press download and keep the browser window visible until it finishes — browsers pause hidden tabs, which would stop the recording. The video saves to your Downloads folder as a WebM file with no watermark.

Step 5 — (Optional) Add music in CapCut

The clip is silent by design, so your music never clashes. Open CapCut (free on phone and desktop), start a new project, import the downloaded video, add your song underneath, and export. CapCut also converts the file to MP4 in the same step — see our WebM to MP4 guide for other options. One caution: if you monetise the post, use royalty-free music.

Step 6 — Post it right

Why this stays free

The animation is drawn by your own browser on an HTML5 canvas, and the recording uses the browser's built-in encoder. There's no rendering server to pay for — which is also why your message never leaves your device. No account, no upload, no watermark, no limit on how many videos you make.
